Based on favourite vintage men’s clothing pieces, military outerwear, updated classics and a few new ones, Unstructured Garments in London have reinterpreted these cherished pieces in feather light unstructured construction, with faithfully replicated details and a few new ones to create timeless pieces.
Unstructured Garments was founded in 2013 by two bespoke tailors in Mayfair: an Italian trained women’s pattern cutter, a menswear designer with two decades of experience under his belt, along with a garment technician who used to work for Levi’s and Wrangler for four decades.
They have a wealth of knowledge and experience between them, and know what works, and what doesn’t. From sizing, pattern creation, fabric selection, garment construction and finishing, every process has been critically analysed, to make the best possible garment, in terms of construction, functionality, durability and comfort. And it has to look good too.
The pieces have no canvas, shoulder pads or lining whatsoever. Every stitch, every button, every pocket fulfils a specific purpose. Every style has been tested in the real world, used and abused, and refined. Only when it has undergone this torture testing, is it introduced in to the collection.
Utilizing vintage and iconic fabrics, collection pieces have been made in Italian Casentino, Austrian Loden, English sailcloth, Irish linen, South Tyrolean boiled wool, cashmere from Biella, Scottish lambswool, painter’s canvas and Italian towelling, just to name a few, all in strictly limited editions. Once an edition has sold out, it will not be repeated. Available off the rack and made to order.
